Five Minutes With... Jeanine Goddard... Dec 20, 2019| Gente de Bisley Jeanine Goddard has been a Showroom and Interior Designer at Bisley since 2017. We sat down with her to talk about her highlights of the year, what's in store for 2020, and where it all began... It’s been a great 2019 for Bisley, what has been a highlight for you? My highlight was definitely the refurbished Paris showroom launch this month. It was a while coming, but Angelique and the team in Bisley France did such an amazing job. Angelique had some brilliant ideas, which she integrated beautifully into the showroom and gave it that typical French je-ne-sais-quoi. The Paris showroom is now a true flagship space for Bisley. It tells the story of ‘plurality’, which embodies the idea of catering for all the needs in a modern office. Having said that, the Madrid showroom launch back in October is another highlight for me. With a new team and new leadership in place, the team in Spain worked really hard on the showroom launch. Much like Paris, the showroom in Madrid showcases Bisley as a serious contender in the market. Together with our new partners, MIG group from Italy and Vetrospace from Finland, Bisley Spain can offer complete solutions that will cater to everyone’s workplace needs. What do you think 2020 has in store for Bisley? We have a huge quantity of new products being launched in 2020, so I think it’s going to be a big year for the company. All the products are so varied too, and although we’re still manufacturing lots of steel products, we’re moving further into the wood market – which is incredibly exciting. Having an influence on these products, and the settings that they’re shown in, is very rewarding to me and I really enjoy it. How long have you been with Bisley? Where did you start out? I was born in Bavaria in Germany, and my career started with a joinery apprenticeship. I then went on to get a degree in Interior Architecture, and my first jobs were all based in Munich. In 1996, I moved with my family to the UK and since then, I’ve worked for dealerships, architectural offices and Herman Miller. I started working for Bisley in 2017, so almost 3 years ago now. I’ve been designing the showrooms in the UK and internationally ever since. So, English isn’t your first language? No! I speak German and English, but I also know Italian and a little French and Spanish. What did you want to be when you were growing up? It took me a while to get into Interior Design. Like I said, I started off with doing a joinery apprenticeship, but I wanted something that could incorporate all of my interests. It was my dad who gave me the nudge towards Interior Design, and I have never looked back! When you’re not working, you’re… I love going to art and design exhibitions, historical sites and getting out in the fresh air. I am married with one daughter and three stepsons, so I enjoy spending time with them too. Cooking is my second passion, although I don’t like anything too fancy!
