Environmentally friendly storage
The Cooperative Group gave us a brief which called for environmentally friendly storage and furniture, with longevity and resilience in all aspects of the design. They also wanted all the products to be sourced as locally as possible.
Our LateralFile white low storage cabinets were fitted with tops, upholstered in a pure, sustainably produced wool, so they could double as breakout seating. We also installed three-drawer-high cabinets topped with planters, to provide greenery throughout the workspaces. Bisley supplied five-high banks of MySpace lockers, which included a drawer rather than cupboard door at the lowest level for ease of access. Each included a combination lock and were finished in bespoke shades of green, blue and red as a visual tool to indicate the zones replicated over each floor.
We helped to vastly improve their approach towards storage, as the LateralFile units installed at the ends of desks and the personal lockers for staff, meant that no pedestals were needed. When the project was completed, the Cooperative Group gained Britain’s highest ever BREEAM rating for sustainability, scoring 95% on the assessment and gaining an ‘outstanding’ rating.
